My house smells weird...
Fear not, faithful legions of fans, for I have not fallen off the face of the Earth. Ahem. ANYWAY, I know, I am a horrible author because I haven't updated since March (o.O), but the much anticipated fourth chapter of Marriage Material is forthcoming. That's right, Marriage Material. I have touched it in FOREVER. Literally. Anyhoo, after that I will have chapter three (or is it four? I can't remember) of Nine Long Months, and then chapter eight of The Colour of Your Blood. TCoYB is really winding down. It's sort of depressing. That's why I haven't been working on it and also why the chapters have been getting shorter. That, and I am a procrastinator. Anyway, I was thinking that I'll keep TCoYB at ten chapters (it's already all planned out) and then I will do a separate story of collective...well, they won't be oneshots, because there will be more than one, and they won't be vignettes because they will be much longer...Hmmm, tricky. Okay, they will be scenes from Gaara and Sakura's life after...the climax. I can't tell you what the climax is (or who is dying, but rest assured, some one IS dying) because that would ruin the surprise. And I'm sure you all love surprises. I don't, I hate them, actually, but you may not. So yeha, I'm going ot wrap up TCoYB ASAP, and hopefully Runaways as well. I have so many stories that I want to start, but I need to finish the ones I have now :( It sucks. BREAKING NEWS: I have ventured into the territories of yaoi AND smut AT THE SAME TIME. That's right, kids, yaoi smut. Between Fuji and Ryoma from Prince of Tennis. I just need to type it out. The thing with this smut business is that once I get it out of my system and onto paper, I don't really want to touch it again to put it in the computer. But I will do it, eventually, and I'll tell you when you can find it on MediaMiner.org RIGHT HERE. P.S. I'm going to start a Kikumaru/Oishi fluffy-ish fic once I wrap up a few of my other ones. Yay. I had this really great (and by great, I mean sad) idea for an Athrun/Cagalli fic, called The Unravelling. It's basically Cagalli reflecting on how their marriage went wrong. It's gonna be a depressing tear jerker, so brace yourselves! (I'm really excited about this one, because I've never consciously tried to solicit emotion from my readers). Also (and this is great) I'm starting this one called "How Not to Write a Fan Fiction." It's a Gundam SEED one, and it's basically making fun of all the bad GSEED fics (there are TONS of them). In fact, because I'm so nice, I will post the first lesson right here, right now. Lesson the First: The Cliché Plot It was a bright, sunny day at SEED High, in the country of ORB. Twin brother and sister Kira Yamato and Cagalli Yula Athha, both around sixteen, or so they figured, pulled into the large, spacious parking lot. They got out of the car and started to walk towards the front doors. “You know, Kira,” Cagalli began, “Now that the war is over, I’m so glad that SEED High was opened as the first school that accepts both Coordinators and Naturals, despite the fact that no matter how or what they teach, the Coordinators will find the classes very boring and easy and the Naturals will be challenged to the point of having mental breakdowns.” Kira smiled at his sister. “Yes, and I am glad that everyone could come to this school. Look, here they all come!” A big, yellow school bus pulled up beside the sidewalk and a group of cheery former-soldiers trooped out and waved when they caught sight of the twins. Kira and Cagalli ran down to meet them, waving like lunatics. “Hello, everyone!” Miriallia waved, despite the fact that she had been on the bus with most of the people and they were all in too close a proximity for such an exaggerated action. “I had no idea so many of us would be coming here.” “Yes, there certainly are a lot,” Kira replied, watching as former friends and enemies continued to pour off the bus. “I wonder why so many came.” “Kuzzey, Milly, and I decided to come to SEED High for the diversity, despite the fact that we were, in fact, in college on Heliopolis,” Sai declared. Kuzzey and Miriallia nodded. “I also came for the diversity and new experiences, despite the fact that I hate Naturals,” Yzak said, crossing his arms over his chest haughtily. “I came to be with Cagalli, despite the fact that I could have just been disguised as her bodyguard and offered her protection against terrorists and assassins and such,” Athrun admitted, blushing. “I came for Miriallia,” Dearka announced proudly, “Despite the fact that she is still grieving for her dead boyfriend.” “I came despite the fact that I’m dead!” Nicol announced. “Me too!” said Fllay. “Me too!” said Tolle. “Me too!” said la Fllaga, popping out from behind the bus, “AND, I’m the Vice Principal.” “I came despite the fact that I’m a princess and I have a country to run,” Cagalli informed everyone. “YAY!” Everybody yelled and ran off into the school. There you have it. I can't wait to write Lesson the Fifth, entitled "Knock Knock Who’s There? Pointless Interrupting Cow Pointless Interr—Moo!" Well, that was a rather long post. I'm going to finish off the fourth chapter of Marriage Material, so it will most likely be up tonight. Pip pip. Back on Track
Okay, so I just posted an extremely short chapter seven for "The Colour of Your Blood." I have the rest of the story all planned out, so I'm going to try to finish it off as quickly as possible (there's a total of ten chapters, plus an epilogue). Due to this, "Runaways" and "Nine Long Months" will be put on hold, but only until I complete "The Colour of Your Blood" which I'm hoping will only take two or three weeks. I'm also going to plan out the rest of "Runaways" soon. After I finish "TCoYB" I have another fic lined up called "The Red Dress" (at least, that's what I'm calling it now, for a lack of a better name). It's AU and based in a world similar to ours during the nineteenth century. I got the idea from watching Moulin Rouge, although it really isn't all that much like it. Anyway, in this story, Shikamaru is sent to the city of Letitia (historical note: that was the name of Paris when it was a Roman outpost :D). He is the the son of some kind of lord (a duke or baron or something, I haven't decided yet). He meets a postitute named Temari, who is being stalked by this freaky deaky ganster-type guy (I haven't decided who he should be yet). It's a story about class segregation and survival and of course love! I'm also going to start something which I shall call "The Fairy Tales Collection," and you guessed it, it's going to be fairy tales! The one that I'm mulling over right now is a KankySaku one (cuz Kankuro needs more love!) that is based on the Little Mermaid, but the real fairy tale, not the Disney stuff, although Disney is awesome and I love it, but I'm getting off topic. Anyhoo, I'm looking for suggestions of pairings anyone would like to see, as well as what fairy tales/Disney movies (if applicable) you would like to see them in. I have so many ideas for fan fics that I want to write, and so little time! Not to mention I haven't been able to think of anything for the novel I'm writing :S. Anyway, I have like TEN ideas that I need to make into fan fictions, or else I shall EXPLODE!!!!! My head hurts now. Anyway, I should get back to "The Colour of Your Blood: Chapter Eight" now (I only wrote this post because I'm procrastinating). So sick, and tired, and ugggggggg...... Anyway, here is a preview of chapter two of "Runaways." Runaways A Temari Story Chapter Two At dawn the next day, Temari shook Kankuro awake and the three siblings pressed on. They didn’t’ pass anyone all morning and Temari couldn’t help but feel thankful; people would mean trouble. Around midday they came upon a small oasis. Kankuro threw himself down on the yellow-green sprigs of grass. Temari pulled Gaara over to the small pool of water and sat him down. She tore a strip of cloth off of her blanket, dipped it in the cool water, and began to gently rub the dried blood off of her brother’s face. “I’m hungry,” Kankuro shouted, “Let’s eat!” “Shh!” Temari hissed, scanning the horizon to make sure nobody was coming. Kankuro took that as an affirmative assent and dove into his bag. “Wait!” Temari cried, snatching the sack away from the boy. “You can’t eat it all now,” she lectured, “It’s about five days until we reach the next village. This food has to last us until then.” The blonde girl took out a kunai and used it to cut the loaf of bread into five equal pieces. She handed Kankuro the piece that had a bite in it and wrapped up the remaining parts in the waxed paper from the stall, placing it back in her little brother’s sack. “Eat it sparingly,” she warned the boy as he began to wolf down his share, “That’s all you get for today. We’ll save the fruit for later.” She took her own and Gaara’s loaf and did the same, handing the six year old his day’s worth of food. While the boys were occupied with their meal, Temari took the opportunity to dump the old water out of the canteens, wash them, and refill them. She retrieved the strip of cloth that she used to clean Gaara off with and tried to scrub the blood out, but the coarse grey material still sported a brown stain. Temari sighed, wrung the fabric out, and put it back in her bag. “Let’s go,” she said, standing up. The three set off again. Current Mood: cranky | | Thursday, February 16th, 2006 | | 3:20 pm |
New and Old
Alright, I'm starting two new Naruto fics, one story and one oneshot. The story is called "Runaways" and it is based around Temari. When she was nine she overheard her father ordering the village jounin to kill Gaara. Temari takes her two little brothers and runs away with them to keep them safe. This story focuses on Temari's struggles to keep her brothers safe while raising them on the run. The oneshot it called "Addicted" and it is AU, set in our time and world. In it, Gaara and Sakura are twenty-one and have been dating since high school. They live together, but Gaara is addicted to crystal meth. He gets violent and stops sleeping. Sakura knows that she can't help him, and so she must say goodbye. It is going to be really depressing, so don't read it if you want to be in a good mood by the time you finish. Also, don't do drugs :P. I think I am going to have to put Marriage Material and The Tragedy of Dearka and Miriallia on hold for now. I think what I will do is work on them and finish them all at once (like write a whole bunch of chapters and post them all at once). On second thought, I will probably only be able to do that with TTODAM. MM needs time to develope and whatnot. Hmmm...tricky, tricky. Oh, well, on hold for now. I am very disappointed with the lack of reviews for The Colour of Your Blood. You'd think that after I'd spent a few hours working on a chapter everyone else could take half a minute to give me their thoughts on it, but apparently it's too much work for them. Thank you to the nice people who reviewed :D Current Mood: sleepy | | Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 | | 2:39 pm |
My Review Rant
Okay, this just pisses me off. I just got a review from a reader who said that he/she does not appreciate being blackmailed into reviewing, and therefore that review was not a "real" review. Well I don't like when people ignor the existence of the person at the keyboard tapping out these stories for THE READERS' ENJOYMENT. It is the readers responsibility to review the work. Of course FF.net can't make you do it, but it is common curtesy and RESPECT. It's disgusting how many people just read the fics and don't review. Is your life so important that you can't type out "I really like your story, thanks for posting" because you can't waste even an extra second of your precious time? If you read, you review, simple as that. I used to hate getting "blackmailed" into reviewing, and the authors' "holding the story hostage." But then I started to write my own FF's and I could suddenly understand why authors say that they won't update until they get a certain number of reviews. It is extremely frustrating and aggravating to see your hit count over seven hundred but you only have ten reviews. That's why I started to give ultimatums. We, as the fan fiction community, need to have more respect for the authors and their work. We show the respect by reviewing. If you can't drag your lazy fingers across the keyboard to write a simple, short review for a chapter that you read, then maybe you should switch to books because you won't have to review and the author gets your money. However, I would like to let the reviewers (who sent in "real" reviews) know that I value their patronage and enjoy their messages. It makes me want to write the chapters better and make the plot more interesting. Without the reviewers, there would be no fan fictions. Snippet of TCoYB Chapter Four (My Special Valentine's Gift to You!)
Here is a little bit of chapter four! I wanted it to be kind of fluffy, but it came out all depressing, so if you don't want to feel sad on Valentine's day, read it tomorrow. P.S. I have over a thousand hits on this story on FF.net!!! ---------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- The Colour of Your Blood A Sakura-Gaara Story Valentine’s Day Special Sakura sat herself down on the dented, wobbly lawn chair (A/N: I trust you all remember why it’s that way). Gaara once again stood at the edge of the roof, looking out at the endless sands. He went to the garden every night, and Sakura couldn’t quite understand why. On the second and third nights since the girl’s arrival, he had spoken to her twice in the garden, but not on the three nights since. “What do you think about?” Sakura asked suddenly. “Many things,” Gaara replied. Sakura noticed the troubled tone of his voice. She got out of the rickety chair and crossed the space between Gaara and herself. She didn’t say anything further to him, but he understood her intent. The redhead vampire slowly let the air out of his lungs. “Kaiyo left that way,” he nodded out towards the horizon, “She was going to the village to but some things for the castle. She said it was a bland as uncooked tofu and she had had enough of it.” Gaara was almost smiling at the memory, but his eyes were clouded. “She was only supposed to be gone a day. I went out looking for her, and I found her body halfway between here and the village. Her throat had been slit and all of her fingers were cut off and the sand had gotten in her blood and made it dry on her skin in lumps—” Gaara’s voice broke. He wasn’t crying, but a pained expression had twisted itself on his face. Sakura’s throat was heavily knotted and she could barely gulp down air. She had no idea what she should do with herself. She might have hugged Gaara, but there was a certain type of horror and sorrow that went beyond comfort. Gaara kept his eyes locked on the horizon as his breath rushed in and out of his lungs. He didn’t know why he was telling Sakura about Kaiyo’s death; it was an unwritten rule that human companions not know the fate of their predecessors. After a while, Gaara found the strength to continue. “She was tortured and killed by him because I didn’t protect her.” “Gaara, it wasn’t your—” “Yes, it is!” he cut her off harshly, “Because I should have been there, I could have stopped him! Kaiyo is dead because I wasn’t protecting her like I should have been! If I had have gone with her or stopped her from going all together, she would still be here with me and you would still be in your village.” The last remark stung. He as good as admitted it: he didn’t want Sakura with him. She supposed that it made sense. Kaiyo had been the love of his live for almost three centuries before being ripped away and he had been forced to take Sakura. Sakura felt like her insides had been ripped out and replaced with fire. She could think of nothing to say but a mumbled “I’m sorry.” For the first time in three nights, Gaara turned to look at the pink haired girl. “Sakura, I didn’t mean it like that,” he said in a low voice. “I’m tired,” Sakura tried to sound normal, but her voice came out higher than usual, “I stayed up all day reading that stupid book. I’m going to go to bed.” She slowly walked down the stairs to the door and quietly closed it behind her. Gaara didn’t try to stop her, he just looked out at the sand. TCoYB Update and a Preview for MM
The Colour of Your Blood: Alrighty, I got very close to my target review number, but I decided to update anyway because I put up the author's note late. Thank you to everyone who reviewed and keep on truckin'. Marriage Material Preview of Chapter Four: This isn't coming as easily as I hoped, so here is what I have so far: The next day, Dearka and Miriallia drove back to the Ethman estate in silence. Miriallia would have turned on the radio, but the steely look in Dearka’s eyes kept her from moving. It was a very awkward ride. When they arrived back at the mansion, neither said a word to the other nor brought their eyes up to meet. Dearka was the first through the door, and he went straight up the stairs. Miriallia, thinking it was rude to merely walk in and not announce their return, went to look for Julie. She was sitting in the living room with a slender middle aged man that Miriallia had never met before. Upon seeing her in the doorway, Julie waved Miriallia in and introduced her guest. “Miriallia dear, this is Geoffrey Beasser, he’s here to design the setting for our little get together tonight.” “Get together?” Miriallia squeaked. “Yes,” Julie cooed, “We thought it would be nice to have a formal introduction for you. After all, you are practically one of the family.” Miriallia felt her stomach flutter. A formal introduction? “How many people will be coming?” she asked, a slight waver in her voice. “Oh, just some friends, a few cousins, and the council, of course.” Suddenly, Miriallia’s eyes lit up. “Could I invite a friend?” she asked hopefully. “Oh, you’ve made friends already? Well, certainly, you can invite whoever you like. Now run along upstairs; I’ve laid out your dress on the bed.” Feeling much better, Miriallia scurried up the stairs and picked up the phone, hurriedly dialling Cagalli’s number. * * * Miriallia put the telephone down on its cradle. She had just called Kira to invite him to the party after getting his number from his sister. No sooner had Miriallia moved to look more closely at her dress than the door swung open, Dearka standing in the frame, his arms crossed over his chest. “What do you want?” Miriallia demanded. “You can’t invite him,” Dearka spat. “I already did,” Miriallia countered smugly. Dearka’s face turned red with anger. “You are going to regret this,” he muttered viciously. “Are you threatening me?” Miriallia asked in a mock-frightened voice. Dearka narrowed his eyes at the girl standing before him. He turned on his heel and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. “That exchange was pointless,” Miriallia said to her empty room as she strolled into the washroom to clean up for the party. In The Beginning...
Okay people, this is going to be a kind of news page for my fan fictions. I will be posting updates of how the chapters are coming, as well as my thoughts on them. I will also be posting previews and summaries of upcoming chapters and possibly some "deleted scenes." You can send me your suggestions by email (please be sure to put something about the fan fictions in the subject, otherwise I might accidentally delete it. Starting off: The Tragedy of Dearka and Miriallia. Okay, this one is sort of slow going. It isn't coming out as well as I hoped it would (probably because I do most of the writing at midnight when I am dead tired). I feel like my characters are underdeveloped and Dearka is kinda OOC. It doesn't really feel like the city is on the edge of a rebellion, so I hope to add in some parts with the underground resistance group. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Marriage Material: I don't know why, but I just haven't been working on this one. I guess it's just part of my nature. I like to start a bunch of projects, but I can never seem to drag my butt through and finish. However, I am determined to complete this story, even if it kills me. Anyway, in the next chapter Dearka's parents throw a kind of "coming out" ball for Miriallia (and no, it does not mean that Miriallia is suddenly gay and that's why she doesn't like Dearka. "Coming out" is a high society term for being formally introduced, sorta). Miriallia invites Kira, and of course, Dearka gets insanely jealous and does something to push Miriallia over the edge AGAIN. The Colour of Your Blood: Ah, the newest of my conquests. I really like this fic because it gives me a lot more artistic license than the other two stories I am writing (don't get me wrong, I love them too, but, come on, VAMPIRES, MAN!). I know that at least twenty seven people are reading this because they have it on either alert or favourites. All I have to say to you people is: REVIEW! Come on, take the two seconds out of your life and send me a review. I don't care if you say you love it or it is a load of crap, just let me know what you think of it. Ahem, anyway, in chapter three, all of the vampires come together to discuss the recent murders and Sakura starts to warm up to Gaara. It's going to be fun to see who the vampires are and who their human pets are! Good Men: This is a Cagalli-Athrun story that I am working on. In it, Cagalli must marry before her twentieth birthday (and she is already nineteen!) in order to preserve her claim to the throne. She is torn between her sense of duty for her country and her stubbornness. She is forced by Miriallia to go out on a bunch of blind dates in order to find her perfect match. Unfortunately, the guys from her graduating class are all jerks. With only three months left before Cagalli will be forced to give up her claim, Kira's friend from university, Athrun, comes to visit Earth. Will they fall in love in time? P.S. I may post a teaser. I already have the first chapter done, but I don't want to post this on FF.net until I finish at least one other fic. Untitled SasuSaku Fic: This is still in the idea stage. Basically, it is a story that is the reflection of Sakura and Sasuke's lives together over the years. Current Mood: chipper |
